This day we’ll have a tour by a local guide. We’ll explore tombs, palaces, and the famous souks. Many different options are available so let your guide know what interests you, whether its architecture, lush gardens or shopping.

The next morning of th 10 days desert tour from Marrakech, we’ll set out early to travel to Casablanca where we’ll visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque. After lunch we head to the capital, Rabat, where we will visit the mausoleum of Mohammed V and Kasbah des Oudaias. Spend the night in Rabat in a local riad or hotel.

Today we’ll make a stop at Volubilis, Morocco’s largest and best preserved Roman ruins. We will also travel through Meknes, the third Imperial city. From here it is a short drive to Fez, the oldest of the imperial cities. Spend the night in Fez at a charming riad.

Today in the vibrant atmosphere of Fez we have a full day tour with a local guide. We will visit the Medersa Bou Inania, the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss and the Andalusian and the Quaraoiyin mosques.

We visit the Nejjarine Museum Square with its fountain from the 18th century. Fez’s medina is a maze of more than 9000 small narrow cobbled streets. We’ll spend a second night at the riad in Fez.

If you like, there is time for a quick shower in Merzouga before we head out again. Today we will pass through the awe-inspiring Todra Gorge and then finally to the Dades Valley with its famous “monkey fingers” rock formation. We will spend the night at Dades.

After breakfast, we’ll continue to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the  Sahara and now famous in Hollywood as the backdrop for many blockbuster films. We will drive along the river in the Ounila valley, known for its kasbahs, to visit the fortified city of Ait Benhaddou, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

This is the ancient caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. Next, we’ll pass through the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass and then down to the plains arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon, where we’ll spend the last night at a local riad.
